“If anyone had any doubts outside of Brazil about what is happening in Brazil, that doubt has been resolved: Alexandre de Moraes is a dictator. Even in Australia the news is already circulating, as the meme says, but this time it’s no joke. The Australian news, in a very thoughtful way, also addressed the topic – as did TV networks, newspapers, radio stations and websites around the world.”

The entry of Elon Musk, the owner of the former Twitter, now X, into this discussion brings hope to Brazilians and also an uncomfortable situation for the dictator, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, and his partner in authoritarianism, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva . It brings about the uncomfortable situation of, when they are unmasked, they have to decide whether in the eyes of the world they will continue to be seen as the dictators and tyrants that they are, or whether they will finally go back and allow Brazil, once again, to live in democratic peace and freedom.

It is sad that we have reached this situation. This is why I call for the Abuse of Authority CPI to be installed, as it already has 171 signatures from parliamentarians who mobilized against censorship, against the blocking of accounts and against the death of Cleriston Pereira da Cunha, Clezão, whose death occurred in prison, in Papuda. As I have already reported on other occasions, Cleriston’s death occurred in prison because Minister Alexandre de Moraes preferred to ignore, for more than two months, the opinion of the Attorney General’s Office that he was in favor of his release. Unfortunately, even a death had to occur for us to finally obtain, at the end of last year, 171 signatures. Now, the responsibility for opening this CPI so that it can start working lies with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, deputy Arthur Lira.

It is ironic, in fact, hypocritical, that the left complains about X, from billionaire Elon Musk, but uses the services provided by his platform on the social network to direct such complaints at him. If they don’t like X or Musk, wouldn’t it be more coherent for them to leave the platform?

Coherence, however, is not the strong point of the left and has not even, regrettably, been the strong point of much of the Brazilian press. While many journalists denounce the networks as a space for the dissemination of fake news – as if, in fact, there is only misinformation on the internet –, they give the conspiracy and fanciful theories created by the PT government wide coverage. One example is the fantasy that Elon Musk and Michael Shellenberger were acting in collusion with a supposed international “extreme right” to destabilize the government and attack Brazilian sovereignty without the slightest proof.

I myself, for example, did not know about the publication of Twitter Files Brasil and, much less, that I would also be mentioned by the journalistic investigation. Journalist Michael Schellenberg was in Porto Alegre to give a talk at the Freedom Forum, whose theme was environmental, and decided to stay in Brazil only after the repercussion of his work out of love for freedom and democracy, to defend what he believes in.

Defying accusations that he would only look at his company’s profits, Elon Musk demonstrates that, in fact, he is not afraid of the consequences of his stance. This is the stance of someone who is convinced in defending principles. And precisely because they are not Brazilians, Musk and Shellenberger should serve as an inspiration for all of us, Brazilians, to face with increased energy the tyranny that is sweeping over our country.”
